Gather all ingredients.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 teaspoon olive oil. Add garlic and onion. Cook for 3 mins.
Add meat to the skillet and cook until brown, about 8 minutes.
Add pasta sauce and seasonings into the skillet. Mix and let simmer for about 4 minutes.
In a large pot, boil water. Add lasagna noodles and cook for about 5 minutes. The noodles should be not quite al dente. Drain with a strainer and set aside.
In a blender, add cottage cheese, egg, and parmesan cheese. Blend until creamy consistency.
Spray a large casserole dish with cooking spray.
Pour about ½ of the sauce mixture into the casserole dish.
Place 4 of the lasagna noodles on top of the meat layer. (Note: Depending on the size of the casserole dish, the noodles could either be 4 horizontal or 3 horizontal and 1 vertical.)
Using ½ of the cottage cheese mixture, make a layer of creamy cheese on top of the noodles.
Top with ½ of the parmesan and ½ of the mozzarella.
Repeat previous steps with the remaining ingredients (Make a meat, noodle, creamy cheese, & shredded cheese layers)
Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes.
Top with fresh basil and red pepper flakes.
Serve warm and enjoy!
