Crockpot alfredo marinara chicken pasta substitutions

If you're look for substitution ideas, look no further:

  • Pasta: Use whatever type of pasta is your favorite, and follow the package directions when cooking over the stove.
  • Chicken: This recipe calls for boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but use whatever is easiest and whatever you have on hand. Chicken thighs, chicken tenders, you'll just end up shredding the chicken anyway!
  • Alfredo sauce: If you're dairy free, you'll need to find a DF alfredo sauce to add.
  • Cheese: Use a dairy free mozzarella and parmesan if you need to.
  • Additional toppings: Some ideas include: fresh basil, roasted garlic cloves, and red pepper flakes.

How long does crockpot alfredo marinara chicken pasta last in the fridge?

This recipe will last up to 5 days in the fridge. Perfect! Make one recipe and have lunch or dinner ready for the entire week.

How to meal prep this recipe

To meal prep this delicious, picky-eater approved recipe, simply make according to the instructions. Then, split into six equal servings and place in airtight containers in your fridge.

When you're ready to enjoy, warm up in a microwave safe dish. I would start with one minute on high, and then remove and stir. Heat to your personal preference.

What goes well with pasta?

There are many fantastic side dish ideas when it comes to pasta! I personally love garlic bread, a simple salad, or a cooked veggie on the side.

What is it called when you mix alfredo and marinara?

This delicious mixture is known as "pink sauce" or "Rosa sauce". It is a delicious combination that is both creamy and hearty. Try out this recipe and see for yourself!

Can I put uncooked pasta in a slow cooker?

Yes, you can put uncooked pasta in a slow cooker for certain recipes. You definitely need to make sure you have plenty of fluid for the pasta to soak up so it doesn't dry out.

For this particular recipe, it is best to cook the pasta separately and then add in after the chicken has cooked. That way the correct, most delicious ratio of sauce to chicken to pasta prevails!

How long does it take for chicken to cook in a crockpot?

As it is says in the recipe, 2-3 hours on high is sufficient for your chicken breasts to cook. Of course, this depends on your specific crockpot and how much chicken you've added.

This is why I always advise to check the internal temperature. Make sure each piece of chicken is at least cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Is it okay to put raw chicken in a slow cooker?

Yes, absolutely. If you put cooked chicken in a slow cooker, it would dry out and not be incredibly appetizing!

LOVE this recipe! I want to make it for my best friend who just had a baby. Can I make it according to the recipe and then she can freeze it for whenever they want to eat it?

Hi Ellen! You can absolutely make this for the freezer. I would make as is and then dump into one of the aluminum trays and freeze like that! Then they can just reheat in the oven.
