Bacon cheeseburger skillet substitution ideas

If you're in need of substitutions, look no further! Try these out and let me know in the comments at the bottom of this post how it goes!

  • Pasta: For this recipe, I used a shell pasta, but you can use whatever you have on hand. Typically, a smaller pasta noodle will be best, like a macaroni, penne, or bowtie.
  • Ground beef: Instead of ground beef, try another ground meat. Ground chicken or ground turkey could work for the recipe, but make sure you note it will change the taste and texture of the finished dish.
  • Cheese: I use both mozzarella and cheddar cheese for this recipe. However, you could use other cheeses, too. Whatever you typically like on your cheeseburger should work just fine here. Use shredded cheese from the grocery store, or shred your own off a block you already have.
  • Toppings: Get creative with the toppings! Some shredded lettuce, sesame seeds, or pickled red onions could be delicious. Whatever you usually put on your cheeseburger - try it on this skillet!

How long does a bacon cheeseburger skillet last in the fridge?

This bacon cheeseburger pasta skillet will last for up to 5 days in the fridge. Make sure you store any leftovers in an airtight container.

How to meal prep this recipe

I love easy meals to add to my meal prep rotation and this is definitely one of those recipes. All you need to do to meal prep is follow the instructions to make the skillet.

Then, separate the dish into six equal servings. Store the servings in airtight containers until you're ready to enjoy. Heat up on the stove top or in the microwave.

What goes well with a bacon cheeseburger skillet?

There is so much topping potential for this delicious skillet. I love adding extra mustard or ketchup on top. Additionally, some pickled red onions, extra chopped bacon, or dill pickles would be delicious. Hot sauce drizzled on top is another of my favorites. This skillet has all the flavors of a cheeseburger, so whatever your favorite sides are for that classic dish, use for this recipe!

My favorite cheeseburger side hands down are sweet potato fries! You could also try regular fries, a small salad, or some fresh fruit!

How do you cook ground beef for a skillet meal?

For most skillet meals, the first step is to brown whatever ground meat you are using in the skillet. That is what I do in this recipe, and what I do for all of my skillet recipes.

Brown the meat first, then add seasonings. After this, whatever other ingredients that the recipe calls for.

What kind of cheese works best for a bacon cheeseburger skillet?

For this recipe, I use both shredded mozzarella and shredded cheddar. However, you can use whatever cheese you like on your cheeseburger best or whatever you already have at home.

How healthy is a bacon cheeseburger skillet?

Healthy is a subjective term and means a different thing for different people. It all really depends on your health goals, your exercise level, and your body!

This is a hearty dish that has a lot to offer your body. It has 31g of protein per serving which is going to help you build muscle and feel fuller for longer. The cheese in this recipe is an excellent source of calcium. Calcium is necessary for our bodies to build strong bones and teeth and maintain a healthy blood pressure.
