What is a club sandwich?

A typical club sandwich is a sandwich made with bread, meat, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. This is similar to a BLT sandwich but includes extra meat and a few other toppings.

Breakfast club sandwich

A breakfast club sandwich is inspired by the original club sandwich. It includes bread, meat, bacon, and tomato, but adds cheese, egg whites, and avocado for an extra breakfast twist.

Low-carb breakfast club sandwich

This breakfast club is the perfect way to start your day! This sandwich is focused on protein to give you the energy you need to start your day!

The protein in this sandwich come from the turkey, bacon, and egg whites. Healthy fats are coming from the bacon and avocado, while most of the carbs are coming from the english muffin.

What's the difference between a blt and a club sandwich?

A BLT sandwich is a bread, bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, typically topped with mayo. A common club sandwich often has bread, meat, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The two sandwiches are very similar but a club usually has another meat in addition to bacon, along with additional toppings and condiments.

What ingredients do I need?

  • English muffin - Any sort of English muffin will work for this recipe.
  • Turkey - Deli-sliced turkey (or another meat) works perfectly.
  • Egg whites - Egg whites is an easy way to add more protein & a breakfast twist to this recipe! You can also use a whole egg instead of egg whites.
  • Light cheese wedge - I like to use a creamy light cheese wedge on this sandwich but you can totally use any sort of cheese slice.
  • Bacon - Oh yeah, the ultimate breakfast meat will be included on this sandwich.
  • Tomato - For some extra tangy goodness in every bite!
  • Avocado - A little bit of mashed avocado on this sandwich brings everything together.

What substitutions can I make?

  • To make gluten-free: Use a gluten-free English muffin
  • To make dairy-free: Use a dairy-free cheese
  • Instead of turkey: use ham, roast beef, chicken, or any kind of deli meat!
  • For a bacon alternative: use turkey bacon
  • Instead of egg whites: use a whole egg

How do you recommend cooking the egg whites? Do you bake them in muffin cups or cook in a fry pan on the stove top?

I cook the egg whites in muffin cups at 350 for about 20-30 minutes. They are easy to slice horizontally and place on a sandwich that way. You could totally make on a stove top if you prefer!

These are simple and are easy to prep ahead of time if you need a grab and go breakfast before running out the door. I love BLTs, but this gives it a little more flavor and protein to stay full and satisfied!
