Copy cat Chick-fil-A market salad

For some strange reason, I didn't try Chick-fil-A until after I graduated college, and I quickly realized how much I had been missing out. When it comes to deciding what to order, most of the menu items are delicious so it comes down to what you're in the mood to eat. I usually switch between ordering the grilled nuggets or one of the salads. After ordering the Chick-fil-A Market Salad so many times, I realized I could totally make it in my own home.

The Chick-fil-A Market Salad is essentially the perfect summer salad. It has mixed greens and is topped with grilled chicken, fresh berries, apples, feta cheese, and nuts. It is sweet, savory, fresh, and nutritious. It's filled with a balance of awesome ingredients that will keep you fueled for the day.

The copy cat version of this recipe uses all of the same ingredients as the real deal. It's fresh, quick, simple, and can be made for an easy lunch or as part of your weekly meal prep. The best part is you can even have it on a Sunday!

What ingredients do I need for this recipe?

The ingredients for this salad are simple and fresh. One awesome part about all of the ingredients you need is that you can use the remaining packages of ingredients for other recipes or eaten as a snack. Here's what you'll need:

  • mixed greens - You'll only need part of a big carton or bag of mixed greens; I used a mix of romaine and spinach.
  • grilled chicken - You can use pre-made grilled chicken strips or make your own. I make grilled chicken as part of my weekly meal prep so it's really easy for me to make grilled chicken and chop a bunch of slices for the salad.
  • mixed fruit - This recipe calls for blueberries, strawberries, and apples; but you can use what you like best!
  • feta cheese - Whether you like the regular or low-fat version, you can choose your favorite type of feta to add. If you're dairy-free, no problem, just leave it out.
  • almonds - Slivered almonds work best for this recipe -- I typically use just a few from a store-bought bag.
  • granola - This adds some extra crunch and sweetness to the salad.
  • dressing - You can choose vinaigrette, balsamic, ranch, honey mustard, or whatever you will enjoy most for on top.
These are the ingredients for the copy cat chick-fil-a salad. There are glass bowls filled with mixed greens, strawberries and blueberries, feta cheese, almonds, chicken, and granola.

What substitutions can I make?

The beauty of this recipe is that you can totally modify it to your dietary restrictions and preferences. Here's a few substitution ideas:

  • grilled chicken - Using grilled chicken will add protein, which will keep you fueled -- I recommend keeping this or another protein.
  • fruit - This recipe calls for strawberries, blueberries and apples, but you can use whatever ratios of those fruits or others that you prefer.
  • feta cheese - If you're dairy free, leave this off or use a dairy-free cheese.
  • almonds and granola - These are totally extras. If you're trying to save calories or have a nut allergy, leave this off.
  • dressing - Balsamic and vinaigrette dressings pair well, but choose your favorite!

What equipment do I need to make this?

The only piece of equipment you'll need for this is a big bowl. The bigger it is, the more toppings you can add!
