Honey sriracha chicken

This honey sriracha chicken is spicy, sweet, and absolutely delicious. It's full of flavor, packed with protein, and simply the BEST. This recipe is easy to make because it only requires 5 ingredients and a slow cooker!

This honey sriracha chicken tastes amazing and can be enjoyed so many ways! It's perfect for meal prep on rice, with veggies, as a wrap, on a salad, or in a bowl. Make sure you have these ingredients so you can try this recipe ASAP!

What ingredients do I need for this recipe?

This recipe only requires 5 ingredients. One thing I love about the ingredients in this recipe is that it's combining several typical pantry ingredients to make something new and delicious! Here's what you'll need:

  • Chicken breast - This recipe calls for 2 lbs of chicken breast (or about 3 large ones). I've used raw and frozen chicken for this recipe and both work.
  • Sriracha - This will add some spice to the sauce!
  • Honey - To contrast with the spice, the honey will add some sweetness.
  • Coconut aminos or soy sauce - Either one of these sauces will add a little salty and sweet flavor to the sauce.
  • Garlic powder - Adding a small amount of garlic will make a big difference!

Can I make substitutions for this recipe?

I usually stick to the recipe, but there are some substitutions you can make based on dietary preferences and what you have available in your fridge. I haven't tried any of these substitutions but let me know if you do!

  • Chicken breast - Raw or frozen chicken will work for this recipe. Instead of chicken breast, you can try chicken thighs.
  • Sriracha - The is key to the recipe so I would recommend using this.
  • Honey - Honey is another key ingredient, but if you don't like honey or you're out, you could try a maple syrup.
  • Coconut aminos or soy sauce - Either one of these will work great for the sauce.
  • Garlic powder - You could use fresh garlic if you have that! I usually just use a powder because it's easier .

What equipment do I need for this recipe?

The only equipment you need for this recipe is a slow cooker. All you need to do is dump everything into a slow cooker and let it cook!

  • Place chicken breast into slow cooker.
  • Mix all sauce ingredients together (coconut aminos, honey, sriracha, garlic powder).
  • Pour the sauce over chicken into the slow cooker.
  • Cook on high 3-4 hours.
  • Remove the chicken from the sauce and shred. Use two forks or a standing mixer with a dough hook to shred the chicken.
  • Add the shredded chicken back to the sauce.

This was so simple and so delicious! I was scrambling to figure out what to have for dinner and already had all the ingredients for this at home! We made it into open faced sandwiches and broiled with some mozzarella cheese. Topped with greens and avocado. This is for sure a make again!

I used fresh garlic and only about a 1/3 cup sriracha since my partner doesn’t love spicy. Served over rice it was honestly amazing. Thank you Jordan !

Made the recipe tomorrow for dinner and ate it with rice and lettuce. Was yummy, but the sriracha was a little over powering and honey didn't come through. Want to try it again with less sriracha.

Love this chicken and so easy! I use half the sriracha since I can’t take the heat. I make it at the beginning of the week then use it on salads, wraps, or pizza throughout the week.

This is so delicious and easy for weekly meal prep! My husband and I made a bigger batch to eat for lunches all week. I love the slight sweetness mixed with spicy.
Jordan -- one question. Do you have a weight for the serving size of 232 kcal? Since we made a bigger batch and I went to log in MFP, I realized I didn't have a weight to measure out for accurate calories. I tried to do some calculations, but wondering if you had any additional guidance. Appreciate it and your delicious recipes! 🙂

This was delicious! It is spicy (as you would expect) and very flavorful! I served it over roasted brussel sprouts but it would also be great on a tortilla!

LOVED this recipe. Adding into my rotation. Made it for my meal prepped quinoa bowls and I couldn’t wait to eat it for lunch. Also had some leftovers for dinner. I put it in a salad, and my fiancé put the chicken in tacos. So many ways to use it. Thank you for sharing this recipe, definitely a keeper!

This was a perfect meal for my family on a Sunday night after church activities. I put it all in the slow cooker in the afternoon and we had it over rice with a big salad. Just a little spicy. Delicious for as leftovers the rest of the week. I used 3 lbs of meat and kept everything else the same.
