These puffed rice cakes snack ideas are quick, easy, and delicious! Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, these four dressed-up rice cakes have your snack time covered.

These are four rice cake snacks, each topped a different way. One is peanut butter and banana, another is sliced avocado, another is cottage cheese and seasoning, and the last is berries and yogurt.

What are rice cakes?

Rice cakes are made from puffed rice formed into a circular cake shape. People often choose these as a lower-calorie substitute for bread or crackers.

There are a variety of flavors and sizes of rice cakes, varying from small caramel cakes to larger sea salt or chocolate cakes.

Are puffed rice cakes healthy?

Because rice cakes are basically puffed rice and air, they don't provide many nutritional benefits. I usually use rice cakes as a vessel for other nutritious foods, making my own delicious rice cake snacks.

To answer the question: rice cakes can be a part of a healthy nutrition plan! However, you probably aren’t going to conquer your health goals by eating only rice cakes. Get creative with these snacks, and use them to fuel your adventures!

Puffed rice cakes snacks

Rice cake snacks are quick, easy, and delicious! Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, these four ways have your snack time covered.

All you need to do is take four rice cakes, open your pantry, and choose nutritious foods with protein, carbs, and healthy fats to layer on top.

You have the opportunity to be super creative with these snacks! The options are endless, but here's my favorite rice cake snacks.

What ingredients do I need?

The ingredients for the rice cake snacks will vary depending on which combinations you try. Here's what you'll need for two sweet and two savory variations:

  • Rice cakes - These are the star of the show, so you'll need large, plain rice cakes for these snacks. I prefer mine with a little salt!
  • Peanut butter - For the classic peanut butter and banana rice cake, peanut or any kind of nut butter will provide healthy fats and can be spread all over the top.
  • Banana - Sliced banana will go right on top of the peanut butter for a delicious pairing!
  • Cinnamon - To really top off your peanut butter and banana rice cake, sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
  • Avocado - For a savory avocado rice cake, smashed avocado will be a great base layer. Avocados are an awesome some of healthy fats.
  • Red pepper flakes - A sprinkle of red pepper flakes will add some spice to the avocado rice cake.
  • Vanilla greek yogurt - For a berries and cream rice cake, greek yogurt will provide some sweetness for flavor and protein for nutrients!
  • Strawberries - You can't have berries and cream with berries! Choose your favorite kind of berries for the top, either sliced strawberries or blueberries work great.
  • Powdered sugar - This is totally optional, but a sprinkle of powdered sugar can elevate the berries and cream rice cake.
  • Cottage cheese - For another savory rice cake, cottage cheese can easily be spread on top of the rice cake. It will be a great source of protein as well!
  • Everything but the bagel seasoning - A sprinkle of seasoning over the cottage cheese will elevate these rice cake snacks!
